VBA ADVANCED ANALYTICS IS HERE

The Virtual Basketball Association is officially introducing VBA Advanced Analytics, a new player evaluation system built specifically for the VBA’s ProSim environment.

​

VAA goes beyond points, rebounds, and assists.

​

It evaluates the complete player through four official ratings:

​

🏀 OOR — Overall Offensive Rating
Measures scoring, efficiency, playmaking, ball security, and offensive decision-making.

​

🛡️ ODR — Overall Defensive Rating
Measures individual matchup defense, shooting suppression, defensive activity, and team defensive impact.

​

📈 OVA — Overall Value Added
Measures the possessions a player creates against the possessions they give away through turnovers and missed opportunities.

​

⭐ OPR — Overall Player Rating
Combines offense, defense, possession value, and winning impact into one complete 0–100 player rating.

​

VAA will be used to support player evaluation, league awards, scouting, draft preparation, player development, and team building.

​

The exact formulas will remain proprietary, but every rating will be generated from official game data and measured against league-wide performance.

The purpose is simple:

Recognize defense.
Measure complete impact.
Give every player a clearer path to improvement.
